D-panthenol is also called provitamin B5, because it has the same biological activity as pantothenic acid. It occurs naturally in the skin, hair and nails. Vitamin B5 deficiency causes the skin to become rough and flaky, and the hair to become dull, lacking shine and turning gray faster. It can be supplemented with D-panthenol, which penetrates the deep layers of the skin, as well as the hair and nail fibers. It reduces water loss through the epidermis and effectively moisturizes the skin, making it soft and elastic. Moreover, it stimulates cell division, thanks to which it has a healing and regenerating effect. After just a week of using cosmetics with D-panthenol, the skin regains its hydration and firmness.
D-panthenol in cosmetics
Due to its soothing and irritation-reducing effect, D-panthenol is a common ingredient of after-sun lotions, hand creams and shampoos, because its structure is similar to keratin – a protein that builds hair, skin and nails. It is also irreplaceable in cosmetics for facial make-up removal, such as the one- or two-phase make-up remover Kropla Zdrowia from the SCANDINAVIAN LINE. Removing makeup with a liquid containing D-panthenol makes the skin soft and shiny and does not irritate the sensitive areas of the face, especially on the cheeks. Cleansing the skin with Kropla Zdrowia cleansing tonic from the SCANDINAVIAN LINE reduces water loss through the epidermis, moisturizes it and protects it against the harmful effects of external factors. Soothes and eases all skin types.
Panthenol is perfect when caring for sensitive skin, e.g. vascular skin, as it alleviates irritations and reduces redness. Soothes and restores comfort to the skin. In a natural face cream for vascular skin, it is a mandatory active ingredient, accelerating regeneration and deep hydration. When looking for appropriate hydration and protection for our skin, we should choose natural cosmetics containing D-panthenol, which is a hydrophilic substance – binding water, soothing and strongly hydrating, and within a dozen or so weeks our skin will regain its lost glow and hydration.
